Annual color run on tap

WEIRTON — It will be a colorful morning Saturday on the campus of Weirton Elementary School.

The school will be hosting its third-annual color run, with registration beginning at 9 a.m. and the run at 10 a.m.

The Weirton Elementary Color Run is a community event, with proceeds going to the school’s Read with Me Weirton program, which is used throughout the school year to promote literacy.

Registration is $20 for children and adults, with those 5 years old and younger participating at no charge.

The course for the run will feature multiple “color zones” where volunteers will throw a non-toxic color powder on participants during each lap. Color zones can be bypassed if a participant does not wish to go through it.

Parking will be available at Mercy Baptist Church and at Weirton Elementary; however, those parking at the school will not be allowed to leave until all participants have finished the event.

Water will be available, along with snacks, and medical staff will be on site. Other activities, including face painting, also will be available.

For additional information, contact Angela Myers at (304) 748-8370.
