WLU honors retirees, milestone employees

WEST LIBERTY — West Liberty University honored its staff and faculty recently, as they reached retirement or milestone years of service.

Honorees were treated to a continental breakfast reception, hosted by President Stephen Greiner and held in Shaw Hall’s Board of Governors room. Chief Human Resources Officer Diana Harto assisted Greiner in honoring the group.

“We join the state of West Virginia in expressing our gratitude for the many years of service provided by these employees. I personally thank them for their work and devotion to West Liberty University and its students and wish them the best in their future,” Greiner said.

He then presented retirees with a certificate from the State of West Virginia detailing their years of service.

Retirees and hometowns include:

¯ Campus Maintenance Specialist Thomas F. Miller, West Liberty, who amassed the most years of service of the group, working for 39 years at West Liberty University; and Associate Professor of Chemistry Norman C. Clampitt, Wellsburg, with 23 years.

¯ Also retiring were Campus Police Officer Melvin L. Cunningham, Wheeling, Administrative Assistant Cynthia A. Jones, Wintersville, and Maintenance Worker/Bus Driver D. David Stiles, Wheeling.

Employees with 30 years of service, titles and hometowns: Associate Professor of Communications Christian H. Lee, Wheeling; Budget Analyst Sr. Sherri A. Mason, Wheeling; Campus Police Officer Joseph R. Olejasz, Wheeling; Health and Safety Specialist Anthony E. Salatino, Wheeling; Professor of Dental Hygiene Margaret J. Six, Claysville, Pa.; Admissions Counselor/Transfer Counselor Rhonda J. Tysk, Triadelphia, W.Va.

Employees with 25 Years of service, titles and hometowns: MLS Program Director/Professor William C. Wagener, Monroeville, Pa.; Library Tech Assistant Edward C. Wolf, III, Triadelphia, W.Va.

Employees with 20 years of service, titles and hometowns: Administrative Secretary Dream L. Bush, Wheeling; Provost Brian L. Crawford, Wheeling; Academic Laboratory Instructing Assistant David W. DeWitt, Wellsburg; Associate Professor of Art James A. Haizlett, Wellsburg; Accounting Assistant/Accounts Payable Deborah A. Heinzeroth, Wellsburg; IT Network Administrator Rebecca R. National Public Service Recognition Week has been celebrated the first week of May since 1985 to honor the men and women who serve our nation as federal, state, county and local government employees.

Gov. Jim Justice also honored all State of West Virginia employees reaching milestone anniversaries on May 7 during a ceremony at the Culture Center in Charleston. Those with 30 or more years under their belt also received a lapel pin from the governor.
