Outdoor movie set

From staff reports

STEUBENVILLE — Parks Director Lori Featherolf is hoping area residents are in the mood for watching movies under the stars.

The department’s first-ever Movie in the Park will be June 29 beginning at 8:30 p.m. at Belleview Park, 1020 Brady Ave. The feature will be the animated flick, Hotel Transylvania 3.

“Load up the car and bring the kids, blankets, and a flashlight for a free evening outside at the movies,” Featherolf said.

Bottled water, soft drinks, hot dogs and other summer favorites will be sold at the park’s concession stand.

“It’s a family-oriented activity,” she said. “There’s a lot of communities that do this sort of thing. I actually got a postcard in the mail from a company that does this, they set up the screen and provide all the stuff we need. I (figured) why not give it a try, see how it goes. Hopefully it goes okay and we expand it next year.”

They chose Hotel Transylvania to kickoff the move fun “because I wanted to make sure whatever movie we show is family friendly.”
