Weirton election canvassing set for Monday

WEIRTON — The City of Weirton’s Canvassing board, comprised of members of Weirton Council, is set to convene to review the votes for the recent municipal general election.

The canvassing board will meet at 10 a.m. Monday in the council chambers of the Weirton Municipal Building. It is open to the public.

Following Tuesday’s general election, the results in each race stand as:

Mayor: Harold Miller 1,338; George Village 354; with seven write-in ballots

Ward 1 Council: Tim Connell 144; Jonathan Curenton 123; with one write-in ballot

Ward 2 Council: Mike Adams 142; Ralph Cunningham 67; with three write-in ballots

Ward 3 Council: Fred S. March 128 with seven write-in ballots

Ward 4 Council: George E. Ash Sr. 83 with one write-in ballot

Ward 5 Council: Flora M. Perrone 280; George J. Charnie Jr. 221; with no write-in ballots

Ward 6 Council: Enzo Fracasso 180 with three write-in ballots

Ward 7 Council: Terry Weigel 151; Shanon Schuetzner 118 with no write-in ballots

In addition, there were 11 charter issues on the ballot. The results for those amendments currently stands as:

Issue 1: 1,095 for; 476 against

Issue 2: 1,258 for; 421 against

Issue 3: 1,034 for; 629 against

Issue 4: 930 for; 753 against

Issue 5: 928 for; 735 against

Issue 6: 975 for; 695 against

Issue 7: 1,040 for; 619 against

Issue 8: 1,336 for, 336 against

Issue 9: 1,232 for; 424 against

Issue 10: 1,083 for; 590 against

Issue 11: 1,016 for; 650 against
