Art show to be featured during New Cumberland Fall Riverfest
NEW CUMBERLAND — The Top of West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Top of West Virginia Arts Council will host the 10th-annual New Cumberland Fall Riverfest Community Art Show and Sale, as part of the upcoming New Cumberland Fall Riverfest.
The festival will be held Sept. 28-29.
Art show organizers are seeking local artists — whether new or previously showcased — to participate.
All artwork must be registered on Sept. 27, between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., at the old New Cumberland City Building, located at the corner of Jefferson and River avenues.
Entries may include creative art, pottery, metal works and more, but because of limited space, quilts will not be accepted.
If participants are willing to sell their work, they must include contact information and price on each submitted piece.
Paintings must have a wire on the back for hanging, with no use of saw-tooth hangers.
The event also will feature a student art show, with youth able to enter either through their school art teacher or on their own.
All student art also must be registered from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Sept. 27, at the old New Cumberland City Building.
As part of the student contest, paintings must be matted or framed, without glass, and must include a wire on the back for hanging. Organizers also will accept one piece of creative art, no larger then 18 inches by 24 inches.
The participating student’s name, school, grade and contact number must be on the back of each piece.
In addition, a new digital art category has been added for those in ninth through 12th grade.
Student prizes will be awarded.
For more information on student categories, contact either Nancy Wright at (304) 387-5658 or Joyce Beatty at (304) 564-5200.
The Arts Council is offering a donation of $50 to each art teacher who submits art from their students.
