Autumn is ushered in with festival
Fall Riverfest set in New Cumberland
NEW CUMBERLAND — Hancock County resident will be ushering in the autumn season next weekend with the 11th-annual New Cumberland Fall Riverfest.
The festival will be held Saturday and Sunday, with a schedule full of entertainment, 50 vendors and other activities.
Events kick off at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, with the Riverfest 5K, organized by Trisha Enochs. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Oak Glen High School Athletics Department.
Opening ceremonies will be held at 11 a.m., with a performance by the Oak Glen High School Marching Band and a Boy Scout color guard.
Also set for Saturday are the Riverfest Art Show, organized by the Top of West Virginia Arts Council, and held at the old city building. The Riverfest Car Show, arranged by Jim Ewing, will be held noon to 5 p.m.
The entertainment lineup for the day includes John Edwards at 11:45 a.m., Michele’s Dance Studio at 1 p.m., Sharyn Vinci and The Blues Crew at 2:45 p.m., Michael Christopher at 4:30 p.m., and the Easy Street Band at 6:15 p.m., followed by fireworks at 8:15 p.m.
Sunday will begin at 11 a.m. with a Community Church Service, accompanied by Anchored by Grace.
The Little Miss New Cumberland Pageant will be held at 1 p.m., with the New Towne Cloggers taking the stage at 2 p.m. and a performance by Dave Morgan helping to close out the event.
