New Cumberland debates wage adjustments

NEW CUMBERLAND — New Cumberland’s municipal finance committee debated year-end wage adjustments during its meeting Tuesday, discussing the amounts of additional money employees should receive.

It was recommended employees receive the additional income during the month of December. In the past, the money was given to employees in November. The amount an employee receives will be determined by the hours the employee works and if they are full- or part-time.

The decisions made by the committee will be presented to city council at the next meeting, where council will have the opportunity to vote on the matter.

In other business, City Clerk Sara Hawkins announced the city’s income is $169,000 and the expenses are $189,000. She said they are waiting on insurance money from multiple claims on city sewer and water plant equipment that has failed this year.

Hawkins also announced she is still waiting for an update from the state on the status of the city’s 2017 audit.
