Taste of Jefferson County

“A Local Affair” was the theme for the 25th-annual Taste of Jefferson County fundraiser for the United Way of Jefferson County held Wednesday evening at St. Florian Event Center in Wintersville where a large crowd gathered to sample the specialties of area restaurants, bakeries and caterers. Patrons of the event had the opportunity to participate in a popular vote contest for the best entree, won by the Laurels of Steubenville; best dessert, won by Touch of Elegance; and best booth display, won by Texas Roadhouse. The evening also included a local trivia contest that determined the winners of three pieces of jewelry donated by Chip and Chris Warren of Discovery Jewelers, prizes taken home by Tom D’Anniballe and Mike and Suzie Mehalik. The 50-50 drawing for $313 was won by Barbara Jean Losey. A variety of Chinese auction items rounded out the prizes awarded for the evening where Kate Sedgmer, executive director of the United Way, offered welcoming remarks. With Sedgmer, left, were, from left, contest winners, Texas Roadhouse representative Chris Thompson; Jamie Maley of the Laurels; Stephanie Pethtel and Joann Meyer of Touch of Elegance; and Tom and Tyra Timmons, United Way campaign co-chairs. — Janice Kiaski
