Child car seat inspections offered

BEECH BOTTOM — In cooperation with the Governor’s Highway Safety Program, the Beech Bottom Police Department will be offering free child car seat inspections from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Beech Bottom Municipal Building.

A Brooke County sheriff’s deputy also is certified to check the seats. To meet with the deputy, call (304) 527-1430 or (304) 737-3660.

Unclaimed property info shared

WELLSBURG — A representative of the state Treasurer’s Office will be available to check unclaimed property claims for residents at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Brooke County Courthouse.

Unclaimed property can range from forgotten utility deposits to final paychecks and usually is held by a bank or company, which reports it to the treasurer as unclaimed.

Individuals also can learn if they are entitled to unclaimed funds by visiting www.wvtreasury.com.

Meeting on retirement scheduled

WEIRTON — Arcelor Mittal Union Local 2911 will be holding an informational retirement seminar upstairs at the union hall beginning at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

All current employees and their spouses who may be considering retirement in the near future are encouraged to attend. Any employee with questions about the seminar may call the union hall at (304) 748-8080.
