WVNCC to host LGBTQ event on Weirton campus
WEIRTON — An event focusing on aspects of the LGBTQ community will be held at West Virginia Northern Community College’s Weirton campus.
WVNCC alum Rosemary Ketchum will present LGBTQ 101, which aims to create a safer and more receptive community environment for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and/or questioning people through education and development, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., March 12.
WVNCC’s Weirton campus is located at 150 Park Ave.
The event is free and open to the public. Lunch will also be included. Anyone interested in attending must RSVP to Sara Wood, by calling (304) 214-8917, no later than March 10. Reservations also may be made by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Ketchum works as the associate director of the National Alliance on Mental Illness Wheeling Chapter. She is a community advocate focusing on social, cultural and economic challenges.
Ketchum graduated from WVNCC in 2017 with an associate degree in Psychology, and from Wheeling Jesuit University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
While at WVNCC she was the president of the Students Caring About Regional Social Issues Club, a member of the Student Government Association, and a member of PTK Honor Society.
