Weirton to host COVID briefings

WEIRTON — The City of Weirton will hold press briefings focusing on municipal operations and medical health during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The briefings will be held Thursday in the council chambers of the Weirton Municipal Building, and will be streamed on the City of Weirton Facebook page.

The operational update will take place at 2:30 p.m., with Assistant City Manager DeeAnn Pulliam, Police Chief Rob Alexander and Parks and Recreation Director Coty Shingle. The medical health update will feature Dr. Kenneth Woods and Dr. Jasbir Makar at 3 p.m.

Bridge project

to begin Thursday

WELLSBURG — The West Virginia Division of Highways advises that a portion of county Road 30, Hukill Run Road, will be closed at milepost 6.05 from 7 a.m. Thursday until 5 p.m. July 17.

The closure is necessary for widening and bridge replacement, and motorists are advised to follow the posted detour route.

Weirton offices to close for election

WEIRTON — City of Weirton administrative offices will be closed Tuesday in observance of West Virginia’s primary election day.

The collection of garbage and recycling will not be altered, and operations for Weirton Transit Corp. will remain the same.
