WEST LIBERTY — West Liberty University is working with the Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department to provide free, on-campus COVID-19 testing for its students and employees prior to the beginning of the school year.

No appointments will be taken, and officials say there will be no need to self quarantine following the tests; however, everyone is urged to wear a mask, limit community activity and practice good sanitation prior to receiving their test results.

The testing clinics will be held on the main floor of the Academic, Sports and Recreation Complex at the following times:

¯ 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, all staff, faculty and on-campus employees (both Highlands and Main Campus)

¯ 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Group B Move-In students

¯ 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, Group A Move-In students

¯ 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, Commuter students

Results could be delayed because of an increase in testing, but it is the goal to have results back within one to three days. Participants will be notified of positive results by the Wheeling Ohio-County Health Department, according to Howard Gamble, Wheeling-Ohio County health administrator.

This mandatory testing applies to both graduate and undergraduate students. The only exception would be in the case of a student or employee who is not physically present on campus during the fall semester.

Photo identification, either a driver’s license of Topper Card, is required.

Classes begin at WLU on Aug. 17 on the main campus and Aug. 15 at the Highlands Center.
