Jim Brockman, executive director of the American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor Museum and a Navy Vietnam War veteran, stood at attention as a hearse carrying the late Edward Jackfert passed the museum he launched within the Brooke County Public Library in 2002. Graveside services were held Saturday for Jackfert, a World War II prisoner of war who brought awareness of the atrocities experienced by Allied troops captured by the Japanese, including the thousands who walked the Bataan Death March. — Warren Scott
