Lt. Gene Hunt, right, officer of the Salvation Army in Hancock and Brooke counties, was presented with both a proclamation in honor of Christian Heritage Week and the city’s Extra Mile Award during Monday’s meeting of Weirton Council. The recognitions were presented by City Clerk Kimberly Long and Mayor Harold Miller. Hunt expressed his appreciation for the city’s recognition of the Salvation Army, saying they “look forward to serving the community for a very long time.”
