Scenes of the Ohio Valley Photo Contest
STEUBENVILLE — The Herald-Star and The Weirton Daily Times are looking for area residents who have been able to capture the spirit of our region in photographs.
They are doing that through the Scenes of the Ohio Valley Photo Contest.
Six winners each will have their photographs published in the newspapers and each will receive a $25 gift card from a business in the Ohio Valley.
“This contest offers a great way for our readers to get involved with the newspapers,” said John Hale, publisher of the Herald-Star and The Weirton Daily Times. “We want it to be a showcase of photographs taken by residents from across the region.”
It’s easy to enter the contest, which is sponsored by Trinity Health System. Just register and upload digital copies of your photographs online, by visiting either heraldstaronline.com or weirtondailytimes.com. The entry button will be in the right-hand column of the websites, and once you click on it, you’ll find some simple instructions on how to complete your submission.
While the subjects for photographs are endless, the time left to enter the contest is not. The entry period runs through 11 p.m. Monday. After that, officials from the newspapers will select the six winning photographs, which will be announced in the Jan. 31 edition.
“We’re always amazed with the creativity shown by residents of the Tri-State Area,” said Ross Gallabrese, executive editor of the newspapers. “Our region’s natural beauty always serves as a great backdrop for photographs, and we’re looking forward to seeing the many ways area residents are able to capture those scenes.”
There is no purchase necessary to enter or win the contest, and all gift cards will be awarded to the best six photos entered within a 45-mile radius of Steubenville, officials explained.
