Lane closure set in Brooke County
WELLSBURG — The West Virginia Division of Highways advises that today and Saturday, portions of 49 Hill Road and county Road 28, Apple Pie Ridge Road, will be restricted to one lane.
This closure will occur from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. and is necessary for MonPower to clear trees from power lines. Two-way traffic will be maintained in one lane by flaggers.
Motorists should reduce speed and expect delays in this area.
Inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances could change the project schedule.
Tire collection effort underway
CHARLESTON — The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection’s Rehabilitation Environmental Action Plan is hosting free tire collection events in the month of June.
Individuals may dispose of up to 10 tires per person. The tires must be off the rims and only car and light truck tires will be accepted.
To help limit the spread of COVID-19, the WVDEP requests that individuals stay in their vehicles when dropping off tires.
Ongoing tire collection events in the local area include:
• Brooke County: Every Tuesday, Thursday, and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Brooke County Recycling Center; and
• Hancock County: Call the Hancock County Solid Waste Authority at (304) 459-3269 for collection details.
