Weirton schedules fall cleanup
WEIRTON — City residents looking to dispose of some unwanted household items will have their opportunity with Weirton’s annual fall cleanup.
The cleanup will be available to current city sanitation customers, beginning with a two-day metal items collection, followed by the week-long household items collection.
Metal items will be picked up Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, with all items placed at residents’ curbs no later than 7 a.m., Sept. 30.
Metal items qualifying for collection by city crews include stoves, refrigerators, dish washers, washing machines, dryers, hot water tanks, old railings, bicycle frames and metal shelving.
Household items will be picked up between Oct. 4 and Oct. 8, with items collected on residents’ regular garbage collection day. Materials must be placed curbside by 7 a.m. on the designated collection day, and are limited to household items.
The city will not pick up construction materials, vehicle tires or parts, tree trimmings and brush, propane tanks, air conditioners, lawnmowers, paint, oil, antifreeze or hazardous materials.
In addition, the collection of recyclable materials will be suspended during the fall cleanup activities.
