These photos are from the annual Breast Cancer Wreath Ceremony sponsored by the Women in Action Coaltion of Jefferson County, a tradition of 22 years.

This year’s event was held Wednesday at the Fort Steuben Mall, with coalition President Janet Sharpe extending the welcome and making introductions.

That included Patty Salata of Wintersville, an 11-year breast cancer survivor who was diagnosed in late 2009, thanks to a routine mammogram at Images. She stressed the importance of having a mammogram screening, which she said saved her life.

One event promoted at an informational table was “Pink Power Night Reimagined,” which is offered by Trinity Health System. The free three-day, 100 percent virtual event runs Oct. 27-29 and features speakers, informative discussions, contests and prizes and programs for caregivers and survivors.
