Vehicle overturned on Market Street Bridge
FOLLANSBEE — The Brooke County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an accident in which a vehicle overturned on the Market Street Bridge, causing it to be closed for at least 40 minutes early Monday morning.
City Police assisted with the accident, which occurred as the vehicle was traveling eastbound from Ohio.
City Police Chief Larry Rea said the driver appeared to be unharmed and no other vehicles were involved.
Rea said several vehicles traveling westbound on the bridge had to back off of the two-lane span so a tow truck could enter to remove the vehicle.
He said while it’s rare for vehicles to overturn on the span, he’s aware of it happening several times in the past.
