New Cumberland sets municipal election for May 13

Candidates may register beginning Jan. 13

NEW CUMBERLAND – City residents will be asked to select their next mayor and four representatives to city council as part of this year’s municipal election.

Current members of New Cumberland Council unanimously approved a proclamation for the election during their meeting Wednesday, with the election set to take place May 13.

Offices set to appear on the ballot include:

Mayor, which is a four-year term; Ward 1, Seat C council representative, which is a four-year term; Ward 2, Seat A council representative, which is a four-year term; Ward 2, Seat B council representative, which is a four-year term; and Ward 2, Seat C council representative, which is a two-year term.

Registration for the slated offices will take place from Jan. 13 to Feb. 1.

“Candidates filing certificates may be obtained from the City Clerk at the New Cumberland City Building,” according to the proclamation.

The city building is located at 204 North River Avenue, with offices open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Those who file and wish to withdraw their candidacy must do so in writing no later than 4 p.m., Feb. 18.

In order to vote in the election, a city resident must be registered no later than April 22.

On the day of the election, polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
