Honoring history

Mayor Dean Harris, on Friday, visited the Weirton Area Museum and Cultural Center, located at 3149 Main St., Weirton, where he presented members of the museum’s board with a proclamation in recognition of February as Black History Month. Throughout February, the Weirton Museum has a display commemorating the observance of Black History Month, with information on influential African Americans who contributed to the nation’s history, as well as prominent members of the local Black community. Pictured from left, are museum board members Bob Kelley, Edmund DiBacco, Ed Giaccchino, Paul Zuros, Kim Salter, and Harris. Those gathered for the presentation also heard from local veteran Ambrose Bolling, who spoke about the Tuskegee Airmen and the Montford Point Marines.
