Following action by Weirton Council in February, the alleyway located behind 3125 Orchard St. has been named George E. Ash Sr. Way, in honor of George Ash, who served more than 30 years as a member of Weirton Council, representing the city’s Ward 4. Ash also has been a member of a variety of boards and organizations, including the Brooke and Hancock County Veterans Memorial Park, Building Enforcement Agency, Urban Renewal Authority, Weirton Area Water Board, Hancock County Sheltered Workshop, and the Hancock County Savings Bank Charitable Foundation. — Contributed
