Weirton Hall of Fame seeking nominations for Class of 2025
WEIRTON — Nominations now are being accepted for the 2025 class of the Weirton Hall of Fame.
Established by Weirton Council in 2008, the Weirton Hall of Fame honors those who have dedicated themselves to the service of the Weirton community, going back to the city’s incorporation in 1947.
“The nominations are now open,” announced Assistant City Manager DeeAnn Pulliam during Monday’s meeting of Weirton Council.
To qualify for induction, a nominee must be a current for former resident of Weirton and have lived within the city for a minimum of five years since 1947.
Achievements prior to 1947 may be considered if the individual remained active after that date, according to the nomination form.
Individuals may be nominated in one of six categories to be considered for induction: Philanthropy; Public Service; Music and Fine Arts; Business, Industry and Professions; Education and Religion; and Sports and Athletics.
Nomination forms are available online through the City of Weirton’s website – www.cityofweirton.com – or in Room 207 of the Weirton Municipal Building.
Those interested in nominating an individual have until April 30 to do so.
All nominations must be done so using the official nomination form.
“Each nomination must state the reason for the nomination in the form of a biography and list the major accomplishments of the nominee. Failure to provide this documentation will exclude the nomination from further consideration,” notes the nomination form. “All nominations must also be signed and dated by the individual making the nominations. Nomination forms received without a signature; will not be considered.”
Nominations can be submitted via U.S. Postal Service by mailing them to 200 Municipal Plaza, Weirton, WV 26062, or dropped off to Room 207 of the Municipal Building.
Envelopes must be marked with “ATTN: Weirton Hall of Fame Committee.”
