WEIRTON – Area youth will soon be on the hunt.

The Weirton Board of Parks and Recreation is in the process of planning its annual Easter Egg Hunt, inviting local children, from toddler to age 10, to come to the Millsop Community Center, April 19, to search for candy-filled, plastic eggs.

“Our main sponsor is Hancock County Savings Bank,” announced Programs Director Chris Krishak, noting additional support will be provided by First Choice America Community Federal Credit Union.

Other sponsors will be announced at a later date.

The search will begin at 11 a.m., with Krishak explaining there are plans for a total of 7,000 eggs to be up for grabs between three age groups.

There is no charge to participate in the egg hunt, which also will include refreshments and a chance for prizes.

When arriving for the egg hunt, participating youth and their guardians or other family members will be asked to register at the Millsop Community Center, while the egg hunt itself will be held on the outfield area of Edwin J. Bowman Field.

“The kids will come to the gymnasium,” Krishak said. “We’ll call them out to the ballfield by age group.”

Typically, in the event of inclement weather, the egg hunt may be moved indoors.

Parks officials have noted the egg hunt is one of their longest-running activities.
