Tickets on sale for Weirton Hall of Fame ceremony

WEIRTON — Tickets are now on sale for the induction ceremony in honor of the Weirton Hall of Fame’s Class of 2025.

This year’s ceremony has been scheduled for 2 p.m., Aug. 16, at the Lauttamus Community Room, located at 1000 Colliers Way.

Tickets will be available for purchase, at a cost of $40 each, through Aug. 7. Tickets must be purchased in advance, and cash or check will be accepted.

They can be obtained at Room 207 of the Weirton Municipal Building during regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets will not be available at the door.

This year’s class of honorees, and their category of induction, includes:

Daniel L. McCune, philanthropy;

Gabriel “Gabe” Arlia, public service;

Dr. Jasbir Makar, business, industry and professions;

Mark Glyptis, business, industry and professions;

Pamela J. Makricosta, education and religion;

Patti Barnabei, education and religion;

Robert J. Busick, sports and athletics;

David H. Reitter, sports and athletics

Established by Weirton Council in 2008, the Weirton Hall of Fame honors those who have dedicated themselves to the service of the Weirton community, going back to the city’s incorporation in 1947.

To qualify for induction, a nominee must be a current for former resident of Weirton and have lived within the city for a minimum of five years since 1947.

Achievements prior to 1947 may be considered if the individual remained active after that date, according to the nomination form.

Individuals may be nominated in one of six categories to be considered for induction: Philanthropy; Public Service; Music and Fine Arts; Business, Industry and Professions; Education and Religion; and Sports and Athletics.
