Bidell, Ergon part of energy investments announced today by Gov. Patrick Morrisey
CHARLESTON – Two companies located in Hancock County are part of more than $4 billion in energy investments announced by Gov. Patrick Morrisey this morning.
Bidell Gas Compression is set to make a $7 million investment in its Weirton facility, which includes a $1 million performance-based loan from the state, to expand local operations and add 80 new manufacturing jobs.
Newell-based Ergon will create 25 new jobs and retain 240 existing positions with a $400 million expansion, while becoming the first participant in the state’s new Power Tech workforce training program.
“West Virginia is asserting itself as a dominant force in American energy,” said Morrisey. “We’re not just keeping the lights on – we’re powering the future of manufacturing, data, and innovation across the country.”
Of the nearly $4.2 billion in announced investments, only $1 million, or 0.02%, comes from state funds, all of which are structured to be repaid.
The announcements were made this morning during the Governor’s Energy Summit today at the Charleston Convention Center.
