Port authority sets special meeting

STEUBENVILLE — The board of directors of the Jefferson County Port Authority will hold a special meeting at 4 p.m. today.

The meeting will be held in the community room on the second floor of the Jefferson County Tower Building, 500 Market St.

John Gregg sets literacy night

BERGHOLZ — John Gregg Elementary will hold its literacy night Thursday.

“Red, White, and Glow” will be held for grades PreK-3 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and will feature an evening of patriotic tales and family fun. Principal Tammy Burchfield said kids will receive treat bags and then take part in educational games in their classrooms.

The Retro Shak will serve up goodies and specializes in comfort food — macaroni and cheese — while the cafeteria will have hot dogs, potato chips, cookies and water on hand for hungry attendants. D.J. Chelsea Householder will spin tunes during the festivities and art students created original works for exhibition.

Wellesley Avenue Extension to close

STEUBENVILLE — Wellesley Avenue Extension between Franklin Avenue and Carnegie Street will be closed to all traffic from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, the city’s public works department has announced.

This closure is necessary to perform tree removal work and pavement repairs.

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes and allow extra time to reach their destination. No detour will be posted.

Road work announced

COLLIERS — Part of Delta Lane will be reduced to one lane for paving through Nov. 21.

Traffic will be maintained by flaggers.

Inclement weather or other circumstances may delay the work.

Council meetings set

WINTERSVILLE — Wintersville Council’s finance committee will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at the Village Building while its personnel committee will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Council’s next regular meeting has been moved from Nov. 20 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Recovery board to meet

STEUBENVILLE — The Jefferson County Prevention and Recovery Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

The meeting will be held at the board office, 524 Madison Ave.

Brooke schools collecting food

WELLSBURG — The Brooke County School District and its Communities in Schools program will be conducting a Stuff-a-Truck food drive, to help local residents in need, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday outside the school board’s office at 1201 Pleasant Ave.

Donations of non-perishable food items, including snacks for children, baby food and formula, and hygiene products and other toiletries will be appreciated.

Airport board to meet

WINTERSVILLE — The board of trustees of the Jefferson County Regional Airport Authority will meet in regular session at 3 p.m. Dec. 8 in the public conference room in the terminal building at the Jefferson County Airpark, 600 Airpark Drive.

Culvert replacement on Route 213

KNOXVILLE — A portion of state Route 213 will close during daytime hours for multiple culvert replacements beginning Monday, the Ohio Department of Transportation has announced.

The closure will extend from south of state Route 152 in Knoxville to township Road 240. Closure hours are 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, weather permitting.

Traffic will be detoured on state Route 7 north to state Route 152 south, state Route 152 south back to state Route 213, and reverse

The completion date is Nov. 26.
