Heavy hauling
Escorted by officers from the Weirton Police Department, the third in a series of superload transports made its way through Weirton Monday morning. According to Police Chief Charlie Kush, the equipment was fabricated in St. Marys, W.Va., and transported via the Ohio River to Weirton, where components were offloaded in the Half Moon Industrial Park and hauled through the city toward a destination in the Burgettstown area. Kush said a fourth transport is scheduled for today, beginning around 9 a.m., with two more expected sometime next week, all following the same route – from the Half Moon area onto Freedom Way, north on Main Street, then east on Cove Road and Cove Hill Road and then to Pennsylvania Avenue and out of the city. — Craig Howell
