Nancy Saxon

Nancy Jean Saxon, 81, of Weirton, WV, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at the Weirton Medical Center.

She was born February 7, 1936, in Weirton, WV. She was the daughter of the late Emery and Emma Cselynak Matey.

She also was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, John A. Saxon (2005), and sister, Joy Yetman.

Nancy was a member of St. Andrew’s Orthodox Church, where she was active in the church council and the sisterhood of St. Andrew’s Church. Nancy and her late husband, John, founded Saxon Jewelers in 1970. She continued her involvement in the jewelry business until her illness, where she worked alongside her son, Richard at R.E. Saxon Jewelers in Weirton, WV.

Surviving are her loving family; sons, John Saxon (Natalie) of Steubenville, OH, Richard E. Saxon (Noreen) of Weirton, WV; grandchildren, Jacob, John-John (Emily Jo Ford), Simon and Rueben Saxon and Payton, Christian and Suzanne Saxon (fiance Joe Canterbury); great-grandson, Edison Russell Saxon; and brothers, Eugene Matey (Anna Mae) and Arthur Matey (late Barbara), of Weirton, WV.

Visitation will be Friday December 8, 2017, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 380 Penco Road, Weirton, WV. Additional visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of the Funeral Liturgy at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Orthodox Church, with Father John Kopcha as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Andrew’s Church cemetery.
