Roger Sears

Roger Dale Sears, born on September 9, 1948, “A man with a million stories”, lost his life at 10 p.m. Saturday, June 9th, 2018, to a battle with small cell lung cancer.

He was a son of the late Mary Madeline Sears and Willis Clyde Sears, and brother to: David Sears, James Sears, Jerald Sears, Keith Sears, and Sandra Sears.

Roger was survived by his wife, Charlene K (Snyder) Sears, and five children: Melissa Plante, Roger Sears II, Rhonda Sears, RheaDale Reed, and Billy Robinson. Roger was grandfather to seven children and considered his family to be his biggest accomplishment.

He received his childhood education from Steubenville Big Red High School and joined the United States Marine Corps as a Private First Class Corporal in 1968 (1st Light A A Missile Battalion, Marine Air Control Group-18, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing FMF).

Roger was a war veteran and earned numerous accolades of honor for his contribution to our country and the USMC. He continued his life working at Weirton Steel/Mittal for the last 46 years. He was a great person and will be highly missed by his family, friends, and co-workers. We honor him on this day and every day forth.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 from noon-3 and 6-8 p.m. at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Road, Wintersville where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at noon.

Burial will follow at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, WV.
