Howard Simon Shepherd, 89, of Bergholz died Saturday, August 18, 2018 in Presbyterian Hospital at Pittsburgh.
Born December 28, 1928 in Jefferson County, he was a son of the late William and Gladys Cox Shepherd.
An Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, Howard was a retired truck driver and contractor. He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in East Springfield, the East Springfield Senior Citizens Association, where he had served as President, and was President of the East Springfield Ruritans. One of his projects that he loved was organizing the annual Memorial Day parade in East Springfield.
He is survived by: one son, Kirk (Karen) Shepherd of Scio, Ohio; two daughters, Kathy Wolford of Wooster and Susan Thele of Chestnut Mound, Tennessee; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister Beulah Snyder of Glenmound, Ohio; his companion Tammy Turnbull of Bergholz.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Beverly Yeagley and his second wife Donna Stine, an infant son Keith, along with four sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Dodds Funeral Home at Amsterdam with Rev. Greg Bush officiating.
Burial will follow in the East Springfield Cemetery. Visitation will be in the funeral home from 11 a.m. until service time.
