William J. McLain, 81, of Amsterdam, died Friday morning September 21, 2018, at the Carroll Healthcare center in Carrollton.
Born February 7, 1937, in Salineville, Ohio, he was a son of the late Ernest and Grace Drylie McLain.
He was a former employee of McLain Firebrick in Wellsville for 30 years and retired from the Jefferson Burial Vault Company in Steubenville. Bill was a member of the former Amsterdam Moose Lodge.
Bill is survived by his wife, the former Louise Shuman, a son, John McLain of the home; three daughters, Judy (Brian) Porter of Catawba, North Carolina, Sherry (Byron) Williams of Wooster, Jennifer (Christopher) Simeral of Charlotte, North Carolina; 12 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at 11 a.m. in Dodds Funeral Home of Amsterdam. Burial will follow in Bergholz Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
