It is with great sorrow that the family of Conchetta “Toni” Goykovich announces her passing on Monday, January 7, 2019. She passed peacefully at the Weirton Geriatric Center.
Born October 28, 1934 in Steubenville, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Mildred Swartz Mantica. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, David; and infant daughter, Terry Lynn Goykovich; and brothers ,Anthony and John Mantica.
Toni was a talented seamstress. She was best known for the 100’s of cabbage rolls and stuffed peppers that were always made with a lot of love. She was a den mother for the Boy Scouts throughout her son’s childhood and an active member of the PTA throughout her children’s school years.
She was a member of the Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Church in Steubenville, OH, where she served as president of the Serbian Sisters Kolo Club. She also donated many hours over the years at the Serbian Picnic Grounds where she sold the famous pogacha bread at the weekly chicken blasts.
She was loved by all who entered her life.
Toni’s greatest love in life was her family. She was married 64 years to the love of her life, Milos “Al” Goykovich, who survives her along with her children she adored; son, Dr. Stephen (Debbie) Goykovich of Daytona Beach, FL; daughters Valerie (Chuck) Kohen and family, and Julie (Joe) Chiodi of Weirton; grandchildren, Stephen (Meghan) Goykovich, Evan Chiodi, Nico Lucas and Anthony; great-grandson Vincent Chiodi; and sister Linda (Kenneth) Boyd of Weirton.
Friends will be received on Friday from 2-4, 6-8 p.m. at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton, where Pomen Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The V. Reverend Father Rade Merick will officiate.
Entombment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton.
