John Tate
John L. Tate, 70, of Weirton, WV, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at the V.A. Medical Center, Pittsburgh, PA.
He was born February 13, 1949, in Steubenville, OH, the son of the late Brooks E. and Nerine Cottrill Tate; also preceded in death by stepmother, Frances Geho Tate; sisters, Joanne Barrett, Nancy Fields, Florette Pierce; and brother, Mark Tate.
John attended Kings Creek Union Chapel; USMC veteran, Vietnam War; Tri-State Marine Corps Club; former Rescue Chief/WAARS/life member; former Chief/life member of Oakland District VFD; retired from Weirton Steel Corp. tin mill mechanical and Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack and Resort/Security and EMT.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Louise Ozimek Tate; daughter, Tiffany Rawson; son, Scott Tate, all of Weirton, WV; brother, Patrick Tate of The Colony, TX; grandchildren, Zachary and Emily Rawson, Samantha and Cody Tate; many nieces andnephews and his hockey family.
Visitation will be Friday February 22, 2019, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 380 Penco Road, Weirton WV, where the funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Rick Gault presiding.
