Joseph Persina
Joseph Larry Persina, 74, of New Cumberland passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at his home on Saturday, October 12, 2019, following a lengthy illness.
A son of the late Joseph and Margaret Gibson Persina, he was born in Concord, NC, on July 3, 1945.
Joe retired from the Quaker State Oil Refinery in Newell, where he worked as a process operator, and he was a Catholic by faith. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was a graduate of St. Anthony’s High School in Follansbee.
Joe leaves his loving wife and care giver, Gail Wojnar Persina. who he married on May 1, 1964. Other survivors include two sons, Michael (Ann) Persina of Waynesville, OH, and Joseph Larry (Cindy) Persina of Wintersville, OH; two brothers, William James (Joanne) Persina of Maryland, and Phillip Jeffrey (Karen) Persina of Follansbee; seven grandchildren, Daniel, Kimberlyn, Hailey, Sydney, and Hannah Persina, Kayla (Anthony)Pompa, and Kelsie Pool; and one great-grandchild, Camilla Pompa.
Father Jeeson Stephan will preside for private Catholic Funeral Liturgy at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chester. These services are in the care of the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester.
