Delores Mae Smith, 85, of Weirton, died Monday, February 10, 2020, at the Woodland Hills Assisted Living Center in Weirton.
A daughter of the late John and Gladys (Gromek) Klakos, Delores was born April 27, 1934, in Weirton, WV.
In addition to her parents, her sister, Frances Karpinski; brothers, John Klakos and Robert Klakos; and step-father, Frank Zamojski, preceded Delores in death.
Delores attended Sacred Heart of Mary Grade School, was a graduate of Weir High School, member of Sacred Heart of Mary Church and served in the Christian Mothers. She was formerly employed in the Tin Mill Department of Weirton Steel Corporation and retired from Smith Plumbing, Inc. Delores’s children always came first and she showered them with much love. She enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens.
She is survived by her husband, Charles William Smith, to whom she was married to for 61 years; daughter, Deanna (William Serpico) of Chicage, IL; two sons, Gregory (Debi) of Wheeling, WV, and Kenneth Smith (Vickie) of Steubenville, OH; sisters-in-law, Eileen Klakos of Jupiter, FL, and Carol Klakos of Weirton; aunt, Irene Crago of Weirton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, a visitation with the family will be held Thursday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m., Friday, at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Weirton, with Father Anthony G. Thurston, celebrant. Interment will follow at Saint Paul’s Cemetery.
