Alfredo P. ‘Fred’ Torres
Born in San Vicente, Sto. Tomas, Batangas on February 18, 1929, a son of the late Juan and Aurelia Panopio passed away peacefully in the Philippines on February 22, 2020 at the age of 91 of complications due to a stroke.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years – Corazon, two siblings, Florencia and Manuel and daughter- in-law, Marilyn. He was a faithful member of St. John the Evangelist Church and St. Thomas Aquinas Church in the Philippines and St. Joseph the Worker Church in Weirton.
Fred is survived by his children, Arthur (Cary) of White Plains, Quezon City, Adelio of Binakayan, Cavite, Amelito of Annandale, VA, Ariel (Natalie) of Vienna, VA, & Cynthia (Alain) Alimario of Weirton, WV, nine grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Fred graduated from Mapua Institute of Technology in 1950 with a degree in Civil Engineering and was in public service for 42 years. He lived a full and extraordinary life inspiring those whose lives he’s touched with dedication to his family, to the church, to the community, and to his country. He left a lasting legacy of honesty, integrity, faith and love for others and family. He was extremely kind, generous and very hard working as he made a positive impact in the lives of people from all walks of life in his involvement in many socio-civic activities (Knights of Columbus, Rotary Club, Lions Club, Parish Pastoral Council, & Road Engineering Association of Asia and Australia).
Funeral services were held on February 29, 2020 at St. John Church and interment followed at the Himalayan Memorial Park in Tanauan City.
