Emerson Cline
Emerson Franklin Cline of Bentonville, Arkansas, 83, passedaway peacefully on Friday, May 22, 2020.
A long-time East Springfield resident, he was a was loving husband, father, grandfather and veteran. Emerson lived life devoted to his family, the church, his community, to farming and to the memory of the siblings who preceded him(Eddie Cline, Bernard Cline, Maxine McClelland, Wanda Stacey and Grethel McCourt).
Emerson leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years Roberta (Van Bremen) Cline, son Robert and wife Alecia Cline, daughter Barbara and husband Declan Kenny, grandchildren Ashling and Teagan Kenny and siblings Patty Mallernee, Georgia Ramsey and Louie Cline.
Known as Hilltopper to many, Emerson was born on August 29, 1936, and was the son of the late Freda (Bonam) and Roscoe Cline. After graduating high school in Bergholz, Ohio, he served with distinction in the military. Emerson was stationed at the Presidio in San Francisco where he served in the U.S. Army Ceremonial Honor Guard honoring the dignity and memory of fallen heroes.
Emerson dedicated 39 years of service to the Signode Industrial Group in Weirton, West Virginia. His greatest joy was family and he was always quick to laugh, serve and share a story. The gift of his love and his guiding presence will be forever cherished by those close to him, especially the beloved granddaughters he leaves behind.
