Lawrence Caniff III
Lawrence J. “Larry” Caniff III, 68, of Steubenville died Thursday, June 4, 2020 at his home after a brief cardiac-related illness. He was born August 28, 1951 in Steubenville. He is the son of the late Lawrence Jr. and Patricia Boychan Caniff. He is preceded in death by an infant sister, Mary Elizabeth.
Larry worked at American Electric Power for many years before going back to school at Franciscan University of Steubenville to obtain a degree in Business. He then went on to own and operate All American Lanes Bowling Alley and 909 Bar and Grill in Steubenville.
Surviving are one daughter Shelley (Ron Jr.) Colpo of Weirton; one brother Gregory (Joi) Caniff of Colliers; one sister Debbie Caniff of Weirton, companion Peggy Spence and his canine friend, Ruthie.
Larry was an avid fan of the Pirates, Steelers and Notre Dame. In addition to his sports, Larry also loved his trains. He was a lifetime member of the National Model Railroad Association. In January, he received the Golden Spike Award for the Mid-Central Region. Recently, he was completing his Master Model Railroader certification, which is not an easy achievement, as there are less than 660 people in the world that hold that title. Larry, along with his lifelong friends Les Lemley and Mike Phipps, were founding members of the Ohio River Northern Railway Club in the early 1970s. (The ORNRy Bunch)
The family would like to thank Dr. Pat Macedonia and Dr. Dom Macedonia for their years of friendship and care for Larry.
