Karen Santoro

Karen Santoro, 66, of Follansbee, WV, passed away at 5 a.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at her sister’s residence under the care of her family with the assistance of Valley Hospice.

Karen was born on September 19, 1953 in Steubenville, OH. She was the daughter of the late John Sr. and Josephine (Yachini) Santoro.

Karen was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Follansbee, WV. Many will remember Karen for her love of sitting on the bench in front of Dalessio Manor with her friends, joining in all the activities at the Brooke County Senior Center, watching Gun Smoke and Leave it to Beaver, her best friend and furry companion, Stella, enjoyment of family holidays, watching the firetrucks and law enforce driving passed; but most of all, sharing good times with family and friends and never meeting a stranger.

In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by two siblings, Janice Goodman and John A. Santoro Jr.

Karen is survived by her two siblings, Bonnie (Dan) Truax of Weirton, WV and Domenic (Kathy) Santoro, retired U.S. Coast Guard, of Browndeer, WI; a brother-in-law, Richard Goodman of Follansbee, WV, six nieces and nephews, Richie (Carrie) Goodman Sr. of Delaware, Michael Goodman of Follansbee, WV, Donna Zakrzewski of Clinton, PA, Brian (Sheri) Truax, Retired U.S. Coast Guard of Chesapeake, VA, Domenica Santoro of Browndeer, WI and Jonathan Santoro, of Chicago; numerous great nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday August 16, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 PM and again on Monday from 10 AM until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV (304) 527-1717.

Entombment will follow at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, WV.
