Michael Casey

Michael (Mick) Dennis Casey, 72, of Bergholz, Ohio, passed away peacefully of leukemia on Sunday, September 20, at the home of his niece, Carla Hudson Robinson. Mick was born in his family home on June 19, 1948, in Bergholz, Ohio.

He is survived by his son, Ryan Casey ( Sasha ) of Portland, OR; daughter, Caitlin Casey of Massillon, OH; three grandchildren; sisters Kathleen Casey Vossler ( Richard) of Longmont, CO; Bette Casey Warner (Jerry) of Carroll, OH; brothers, George (Pamela) of Atlanta, GA; and Jerry (Linda) of Findlay, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Dennis Casey; mother, Mabel Baker Casey; and sister, Ruth Casey.

He was a 1966 graduate of Springfield Local High School, where he was active in the basketball program.

He joined the U. S. Navy in 1967 and was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he decoded top secret messages. It caused quite a stir when the FBI agents visited Bergholz to interview residents for his Top Secret Security clearance.

Mick was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He also was a successful salesman, traveling throughout the Northwest U. S. After retiring, he returned to Bergholz, which he loved and where he was fondly known to all.

Most of all, Mick loved spending time with his family and friends. He would have been so happy if everyone had moved back to their family home in “the holler.”

Funeral arrangements are pending at Schuetz Funeral Home, Mingo Junction, OH.

Memorials can be made to Valley Hospice, 4000 Johnson Rd., Steubenville, OH 43952.
