Joan Martin, 78 of Follansbee, WV, passed away at 10:03 AM on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Weirton Medical Center, Weirton, WV.

Joan was born on December 31, 1942 in Steubenville, OH. She was the daughter of the late Peter Martin Sr. and Violet (Carbasho) Martin.

Joan was a member of Olde St. John Episcopal Church, Colliers, WV. She retired after 45 ¢ years as the Manager of Data Entry for Memberships at the National Rifle Association in Washington D.C. Many will remember Joan for her love of travel with her girlfriends, being an avid sports fan rooting on the Pirates, Steelers, Mountaineers and Red Skins and spending time with her nieces and nephews and their families. The joys of her life.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her two brothers, Peter Martin Jr. and Charles David Martin Sr.

Joan is survived by her nieces and nephews, Peter (Lynn) Martin, Diane (Bill) Watt, Greg (Jolinda) Martin, David (Debbie) Martin, Christine (Robert) Shore, Trina (Greg) McMasters, Nicole (George) Markof, John Martin, Rebecca (Scott) Lewis and Matthew Martin, great nieces and nephews, Melanie (David) Wilharm, Dr. Casey Martin, Zachary and Jacob Watt, Joshua and Ella Clapp, David and Travis Shore, Allison and Jackson Lewis, Tim (Jessica) and Tori McMasters, Logan Graham, Breanne Graham and Steve Barkoci, great great nieces and nephews, Grant, Reed and Juliana Wilharm and Micah and Sullivan and a special friend, Mary Mentzer.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, January 29, 2021 from 4:00-7:00 PM and again on Saturday, January 30, 2021 from 9:00 AM until time of Funeral Service 10:00 AM at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV (304)527-1717 with Reverend Phil Van Dam, presiding.

Please note that limited access and social distancing will be in place during the visitation and service. All attendees will be required to wear a mask or face covering. In addition, if you are unable to attend or not feeling well, please consider sending a card or leaving an online condolence.

Interment will follow at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, WV.
