Frances Hawkins

Frances Hawkins (nee Narewski) died peacefully on, Saturday, April 3, 2021 in Steubenville, OH at the age of 91.

Frances was born on April 2, 1930 in Steubenville, OH to Stanley and Eva (Sedzik) Narewski. She graduated from Catholic Central High School and subsequently worked at Juvenile Shoe Shop and Demark’s Department Store, both in Steubenville, OH. She married William Hawkins in 1964 and was a long-time parishioner of St. Stanislaus’ and St. Peter’s in Steubenville, OH. Frances was a loving wife, sister, and aunt who was very generous to her family. She was also a great supporter of Steubenville bakeries and a world-class shopper.

Frances Hawkins is survived by her nieces and nephews Maureen Lafferty (Deborah Drummond) of South Bend, IN, Lynne Lafferty Baird (Robert) of Steubenville, Larry Lafferty (Margaret Sheskey) of Athens, OH, and Brennan Lafferty (Carrie) of Ann Arbor, MI, and Eleanore Crowe (James) of Kula, HI as well as numerous grand-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Hawkins, her parents, her siblings Sr. Mary Cantius of Coraopolis, PA, Edmund Narewski (Marie) of Steubenville, Hattie Narewski Miklasz (John) of Hamburg, NY, Anthony Narewski (Lillian) of Plymouth, MA, Casimir Narewski of Cambridge, OH, Eleanor Lafferty of Follansbee, WV, infant brother Alexander and infant sister Anna Narewski.

A private memorial service will be held. Mosti Funeral Home is handling arrangements and interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frances’ name to the Felician Sisters of North America’s Mission in Haiti (feliciansistersna.org/giving) and Valley Hospice, 10686 State Route 150, Rayland, OH 43943.
