Vansel Northcraft

Vansel “Vance” James Northcraft of Weirton passed away unexpectedly Sunday, April 11, 2021, at his residence; he was 81 years old.

Born in Marietta, OH, on December 30, 1939, Vance was the oldest of two sons born to the late Donald James and Vaun (McPeek) Northcraft.

Vance worked for the Weirton Steel Corporation, where he retired with over thirty years of faithful service. He was also proud to be an active member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 688 in Weirton. Vance’s past times included camping, fishing, and watching his favorite professional football team, the New York Giants. However, music and motorcycles were his true passions.

An avid Harley – Davidson enthusiast and motorcycle club member, Vance will be most fondly remembered for his golden voice. This crooner lent his lead vocals to many local bands, in addition to playing drums and deejaying countless local events, including “Joe & Vance’s Annual Doo-Wop Picnic” in Weirton.

Vance will be remembered with love by his son James (Nichole) Northcraft of New Cumberland, daughters Stacey (Rick) Dearth of Follansbee, Vicki Bradford of Weirton, grandchildren, Madison (L J) Burns, Selah, and Israel Northcraft, Andrew Dugas, and great-granddaughter Madelynn Burns.

Private visitation will be held Friday, April 16, 2021, with a celebration of Vance’s life to follow at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Pastor James Rhodes will officiate.

Interment will follow immediately after the service.
