Samuel Mraovich

Samuel “Sam” Mraovich, 81, of State College, died Monday, May 10, 2021, at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Born August 30, 1939, in Weirton, WV, he was the son of the late George and Vera Barich Mraovich. On Oct. 13, 1973 he married Patricia Ann Hultberg, who survives.

Also surviving are five children, Leeann Renee Mraovich of Clarion, Samuel Dwain Mraovich of Las Vegas, NV, Robert George Mraovich of State College, Holly Marie Koretz and her husband, Tony Koretz, of Otaki Beach, New Zealand, Christopher Michael Mraovich of State College; three brothers, Nick Mraovich of Weirton, WV, Eli and Robert Mraovich, both of The Villages, FL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven siblings, Michael and Rudy Mraovich who passed away during WWII, George Mraovich, twins, Peter and Anna Mraovich, Betty Baer and Sophie Campbell.

Sam was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Electrical Engineering.

He retired as an Electrical Supervisor in the department of B.O.P. in Weirton Steel in 1988. In 1989, Sam moved to State College, Pennsylvania where he worked at Cerro Metals in Bellefonte as an Electrical Supervisor until he retired one last time in 2004 at age 65.

Sam was Christian Orthodox by faith.

He loved science and physics.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Weirton, WV.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any Native American Indian Charity.
