EDITH NOONAN
Edith Noonan, 98, of Steubenville died Monday, June 12, 2023 in Virginia. She was born March 29, 1925 in Steubenville. Edith was the daughter of the late Angelo and Mary Suffoletta Pace. Her husband Thomas Noonan, Sr. and two sisters Margaret Pace and Dora Tate, preceded her in death.
Edith, who graduated from Steubenville Catholic Central High School and Good Samaritan Hospital (Zanesville) under the WWII Cadet Nurse Corps, was a retired Registered Nurse where she worked at Ohio Valley Hospital and Gill Memorial. She worked for 30 years at the Jefferson County Health Department, rising to Supervising Nurse.
She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and its CWC. Edith was an avid swimmer with the senior Mingo Swimmers Group and during the winter months frequented the pool at Big Red High School. Additionally, she was a member of Primetime.
Edith was the recipient of the Herald Star ‘Star’ Award in 2005.
Surviving are one daughter Tamera “Tammy” (Douglas Manuel) Noonan of Herndon, VA; a son Thomas (Rosemary- deceased) Noonan Jr. of Steubenville, four step grandchildren Jennifer Sanders, Joey Esty, Mikayla Diez and Caprice Atwell and six great grandchildren.
Over the years, she also enjoyed sharing her life with her fur-babies.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 3-6 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10 am at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Peter’s Catholic Church or the Jefferson County Humane Society.
