KAREN McINTYRE
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Karen Louise McIntyre, a beloved daughter, mother, sister, and grandmother, who left us peacefully on June 2, 2025 at the Stone Pear Pavilion, Chester, WV. Born on March 10, 1943, in Steubenville, Ohio, Karen was a daughter of the late Raymond Harold and Hazel Virginia Vaughn Shultz. Karen is also preceded in death by her husband, Wayne McIntyre; brother, Raymond “Bud” Shultz, Jr.; and brother-in-law, John Perkins. During her 82 years, Karen brought joy, warmth, and compassion to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Karen dedicated much of her life to her career as a banking teller, where she demonstrated an unwavering commitment to serving others. Those who worked alongside her admired her kindness and her ability to put everyone else before herself. Karen was a woman of faith and she cherished her family deeply, and her love and devotion remain indelibly etched in the hearts of her surviving relatives: her sons, Phillip W. (Heather) McIntyre of Olney, MD, and Jeffrey P. (Cari) McIntyre of New Cumberland, WV; her sister, Joyce Perkins; her grandson, Phillip J. McIntyre; and her granddaughter, Julia G. McIntyre.
Karen loved exploring and traveling the country, embracing the beauty and diversity of the places she visited. Her adventurous spirit was matched only by her fervent loyalty to her favorite football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, reflecting her zest for life and commitment to her passions.
Karen’s generosity and selflessness inspired everyone around her, and she will be deeply missed. A visitation will take place on Monday, June 9, 2025, from 10:00 am until the 12:00 pm funeral service at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Interment will follow at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton, WV. Pastor Jim Rhodes will preside over Karen’s services. Friends and family are invited to gather and share in memories of Karen, honoring the love she shared and the legacy she leaves behind.
In this time of mourning, let us remember Karen not only for her love of family and friends but also for her indomitable spirit and unwavering support for those she cherished. She will always be remembered and forever missed.
