ROGER WELLS, SR.
Roger Kevin Wells, Sr., 70, of Steubenville, Ohio, passed away December 3, 2025 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh surrounded by his loving family. He was born to the late Glenn Wells and Marcella Peterson Wells on June 19, 1955 in Steubenville. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Jefferson County Sportmen’s Club, and Steubenville PAC.
Roger graduated from Wintersville High School in 1973. He attended the College of Steubenville and began his lifelong career beside his father, Glenn, at Wells West End Excavating. As President of West End Excavating, Roger poured his heart into the work and community he loved. He was not just an operator or leader – he was a true craftsman, known for his unmatched work ethic and unwavering dedication. Roger cared deeply for his community and never hesitated to lend a hand when someone needed it. He believed every customer deserved to feel valued and made sure every project, no matter the size, was completed with integrity, precision, and care.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sharon Wells, and their 3 children, Lauren (Ryan) Risner of Alexandria, Kentucky, Susan Wells of Steubenville, and Roger “Kevin” Wells, Jr. of Steubenville, grandchildren Rowan Risner and Emerson Risner, siblings: Richard (Tina) of Steubenville, Karen (Michael) Albrink of Tampa, Florida, Janet (David) Thompson of Norfolk, Virginia, Patty (Jeff) North of Hilton Head, South Carolina and John (Gillian) of South Barrington, Illinois, and many wonderful nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his loyal companion, Rascal, the family dog.
Friends may call on Friday, December 12th from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 13th at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church (852 Main St, Wintersville, OH 43953), Father Michael Gossett, celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary.
