We are making progress

The story that leads off our 2015 Progress Edition contains a quote from Pat Ford that helps to put our area’s changing economy into perspective:

“Who would have thought energy would be driving our agenda to the magnitude it is today?” asks Ford, the executive director of the Business Development Corp. of the Northern Panhandle.

Ford’s thoughts on how the Tri-State Area’s economy has changed during the past several years are appropriate, because they speak to the positive developments we are experiencing and the vibrant future that’s ahead.

The growth that’s being driven by the oil and gas industry and its related businesses certainly is making a difference, and those stories are among the ones we will be sharing in Progress 2015: Pride, Purpose and Prosperity.

As we have done during the past several years, we will be distributing our annual comprehensive examination of the area in five installments, beginning today, when we offer an overview of the area’s economic outlook and developments in the oil and gas industry.

The remainder of the segments will be included in our Wednesday editions, beginning this week, with a look at area communities, retail businesses and financial services. On Feb. 11, the emphasis shifts to tourism and hospitality, and the Feb. 18 installment will be centered on health, education and careers. Finally, on Feb. 25, we will focus on business, industry and transportation.

Our region is filled with people who are committed to making their businesses successful and whose hard work ensures that the Tri-State Area remains a great place to live and raise a family.

They’re positive stories, and it’s our privilege to be able to share them with you.
