A night of fun for a good cause

Rotarians, guests and more will gather Saturday night to continue their efforts to support the community.

The Rotary Club of Weirton Heights’ annual Mardi Gras Gala will be held at Williams Golf and Country Club, with live music, good food and lots of fun. This will be the event’s 19th year, and we hope it continues to be just as successful as in years’ past.

This year’s event will continue to focus on our local youth and families, with proceeds benefitting the Tri-State United Soccer program and its efforts to renovate and upgrade the J.C. Williams Soccer Complex. Plans for the fundraiser are to focus on the installation of a new playground, which will be available for anyone in the community.

Our local Rotary clubs have a tradition of service to the community, and this is one of the many ways this goal is accomplished.

Over the years, Mardi Gras has benefited a variety of organizations in the community, from youth groups to the Weirton Area Museum and Cultural Center, the Weirton Christian Center, Table of Hope, Weirton Medical Center and more.

We thank the members of the Weirton Heights club for their many efforts to serve and assist others.
